WHAT THE F%^$ WAS I THINKING

Posted under T-Shirt business on Monday 30 August 2010

Seriously. Why didn’t one of my friends, family, dog, neighbor or customer slap me? Let me start with this, I am sorry. Really I am. You ask did I do to warrant this apology. Well it is 1:20 in the morning and I am groggily apologizing for the past ~1 1/2 years of pricing.

Let me start with this quote from an interview in May 2008.

“The whole T-shirt business for me came about after the realization that I wanted to wear something different. The whole idea of seeing groups of people wearing the same tired designs and slogans frustrated me. What frustrated me even more was seeing the amount of money college students would spend on clothes, only to see nothing in return. That is the idea here; we employ college artists and sell a high quality product at prices a college student can afford. The T-shirts and clothes are designed by college students, for anyone who wants a top quality, fresh design, and all at an affordable price.

It makes me ill to my stomach to see how I deviated from original goal/purpose of Rethink. Somewhere along the line I got caught up in the idea of better profit margins, more prestige and pure ignorance. Where the apology really comes in is that a good amount of people have bought shirts from me at the $20 mark. For that I am truly sorry and do not worry I will be doing more free posters and shirt giveaways to hopefully make it up to you.

This all came about when I was doing my latest contest for the next artist. Going back through all the submissions and seeing what artists had to say about their work made me think about where I had originally started. I never have trouble sleeping, dream weird things, or get anxiously upset about stuff. The past week I have been having all of those and I think its because I knew what I had to do and for some reason couldn’t pull myself to do it, until now.

I hope this make sense and if it doesn’t the takeaway here is this:

I was wrong to deviate from my original focus of Rethink and increase prices. Rethink shirts are now $15 and $17 dollars, thats $5 and $3 cheaper than before. IT WONT HAPPEN AGAIN

Thanks for being a part of Rethink and I hope this change is to everyone’s liking.

p.s I apologize as well for grammar and spelling, it is 2am and I am sleeepy.

In planning my next shirt release, I found way too many awesome artists. So, what better to do than pick my 4 favorties and let you vote on them. I was kind of leary how this would work out, but so far it has been working out really well. If you want to know more about the awesome college artists and vote click here.

Highway to the Danger Gnome

Posted under New Shirts,T-Shirt business, new product on Monday 16 August 2010

This weekend I had some of my best college buddies visiting. Beyond our normal craziness my friend Aaron kept singing highway to the Danger Gnome in honor of my new shirt. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the photos below. These photos were a bear to take thanks to me being alone and doing this at 3am. Posing and making sure focus/frame/all of that stuff is difficult! I love the shirts and the photos.

The idea behind the shirt was a long time coming and like usual, not the original idea. I had originally wanted a bat/axe/golf club hitting the gnome. Grant, the artist, thought a bit different and worked it out. He sent me a fantastic sketch of his idea and cranked out this awesome design. I always love working with Grant as he is straight forward about his opinion and doesn’t disappoint.

So, check out the shirt and let me know what you think.

Enjoy and click the pics to be taken directly to the store.
